Odia Film ‘Ashram’ To Hit Theatres Across Odisha In August

Puri: The under-production Odia film ‘Ashram’ will be released in cinema theatres across Odisha in August.

This was stated by the film’s producer Tapan Kumar Das while speaking to media persons on the occasion of official announcement of the film’s title in Puri on Sunday.

Produced under the banner of Anees Entertainment, ‘Ashram’ has veteran actress Mahasweta Ray in the lead role. Other star cast includes Abhisek Giri, Suryamayi Mohapatra, Sweta Acharya, Tusa Acharya, Prashant Mishra and Kalpana. Actor Sankar Pradhan will play a special role in the film.

While Sudhansu Mohan Sahu has directed the film, music director Abhijit Majumdar has set the tunes of its songs written by Bapu Goswami. Dillip Choudhury has written the script and the dialogues based on the story by Nityananda Nandi.

Producer Das said the film is based on the contemporary social issues infused with a fair dose of entertainment. “I hope this film will be appreciated by the audience for its strong message to the society and powerful acting by the actors led by Mahasweta,” he said.

“The entire film will be shot in and around Puri. Almost 50% of the shotting has been completed and we hope to compete the rest part in next 10 days. After the post-production works, we will release the film in theatres in August,” he added.

Actress Suryamayee said she was very excited about the film and was looking forward to its release. “I am playing the role of young Mahasweta in the film. I am working with director Sudhansu after 9 years. The film is progressing well under his direction and I hope the Odia film lovers will like our efforts,” she added.
