Bhubaneswar: Odia filmmaker and journalist Alaya Mohanty passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday morning. He was 65.
Mohanty, who was undergoing treatment at the hospital, succumbed to a cardiac arrest, family sources said.
While film ‘Asha’ made by Mohanty has won a national award, he produced popular serials like Balighar and Marichika.
A multi-faceted personality, Mohanty was associated with a number of social and cultural organisations. He was also actively associated with the Red Cross movement.
People from different walks of life condoled the demise of Mohanty. The cremation is slated to be held at Swargadwar in Puri, sources said.
