Bhubaneswar: With stories of multi-dimensional difficulties thrown up by COVID pandemic and the people’s struggle to overcome those still unfolding, well-known Odia filmmaker Santosh Panda has come up with a movie on the issue.
Titled ‘Denaa, The Wings’, the film highlights the dreadful impact of the pandemic on children, particularly those belonging to poor families.
“The film focuses on children’s education which has been the worst victim of the pandemic. I have tried to project children’s confidence to face a challenge as the wings (Dena) of a bird,” said Panda on the occasion of release of the film’s poster on New Year’s Day.
Further speaking on the storyline of the film, Panda said it also promotes education of girl child. “I have showcased the grit and determination of a girl child in overcoming all odds to continue her study, particularly during the pandemic,” he added.
Produced under the banner of The Premier Media, ‘Denaa’ is produced and directed by Panda who has many award winning films including ‘Sabas Biju’ and ‘The Art of Life’ to his credit.
The poster was released by the director’s mother Annapurna Panda and noted actor and director Ramakanta Mishra.
Actors Choudhury Bikash Das, Mamata Mohanty, Suhana Kar, Kalinga Dash, Kalyani Panda, Subhasmita Panda, Kuni Panda and Panu Behera have played different roles in the 45-minute movie.
Panda himself has written the lyrics and composed the music while Satya Parida has rendered voice to the only song of the film.
“The release date of the movie has not been decided yet. I will send it to the film festivals first,” said Panda.
