Bhubaneswar: Documentary film ‘The Motherland’ will be screened at the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival.
The 61-minute English film has been directed by national award-winning Odia film director Shibu Prusty, who has also donned the hat of cinematographer.
Films from many countries will be screened from November 8 to 15 at the festival. ‘The Motherland’ will be screened at 5.15 pm on November 10 at Nandan.
Besides, this movie will also be screened at International Film Festivals in Italy, Germany, and Turkey.
The movie is an adaptation of the book ‘Jami Bikana Bhada Diana’ (Land To Let), by Labour Union leader Mayadhar Nayak. It showcases the life and struggle of daily wage labourers and how they are exploited.
Prusty shot the film at different places in Odisha for the movie for near about 90 hours.
The documentary has been made under the banner of Udra Productions and produced by Indira Das.
