Odia Flicks ‘Prem Kumar’ & ‘Sriman Surdas’ To Keep Audiences Engaged During Durga Puja

Bhubaneswar: There will be a healthy competition between two Odia films scheduled to hit theatres during Durga Puja this year. Both the films ‘Sriman Surdas’ and ‘Prem Kumar’ are produced under the banner of Tarang Cine Productions. To keep away from competition, the producers of ‘Patnagarh’, ‘Champion’, ‘Devdas’ and ‘Nimki’ have decided not to release during Durga Puja.

One film old Shivani Sangeeta is excited about her second release ‘Prem Kumar’ opposite superstar Anubhav Mohanty. Directed by Tapas Sargharia, the film’s music has been scored by Prem Anand. “I have learnt so much during the shooting. I have grown as a person in one year both on the personal and professional level. I got an opportunity to bring out the best talent in me. For that, I am really grateful to the director Tapas sir and choreographer Girish sir,” said the lead actress Shivani, whose debut film, ‘Sister Sridevi’ opposite Babushan was a hit in 2017. Not revealing much about the story, she said, “The film has a patriotic angle though it has romance and comedy too. The story has been woven keeping in mind the age difference between both of us. The audience will love our on screen chemistry.” Among all the songs, the soulful composition, ‘Sunjara Sunjara’ rendered by Human Sagar and Ananya Nanda is hitting the right chord.

Babushan and Bhoomika’s pairing in ‘Sriman Surdas’ promises to give a different taste to the audience. The film has been directed by Ashok Pati and the music is by Abhijit Majumdar.

Buddhaditya Mohanty will also be seen in a different character after a gap of two years. “I am playing the role of a dance teacher and Babushan as Sriman Surdas, a melody singer. Buddhaditya sir’s character adds suspense to the story, which I cannot reveal now. People had earlier accepted Babushan and my chemistry in ‘Hero No 1’. I expect the same this time too,” said Bhoomika, who keeps a balance between her studies and acting schedule. Among the six songs, ‘Chupudi Deli Dilta’ is a perfect dance number, which is also my favourite one, says Bhoomika.

Both the films will hit theatres across Odisha on October 14.
