Sambalpur: A woman called off her wedding on seeing her would-be groom in an inebriated condition at the wedding venue in Badmal village under Jujumura block of Sambalpur district.
Family members of the girl from Badmal village had fixed her marriage with a youth from Naktideul block on Monday.
At the wedding venue the boy arrived in a grand procession. But he was so drunk that he was unable to stand or sit properly. To make matters worse he began abusing the bride’s family. Seeing his condition, the would-be bride decided to cancel the marriage. Some guests tried to resolve the matter amicably, but she stuck to her decision.
The boy and his family members returned after returning dowry they had taken.
