Bhubaneswar: Odia girl Satavisa Das has made the state proud by winning People Choice Title at the Junior Model International 2018 held at Calicut in Kerala on Monday.
She has been selected to represent India for World Tourism Festival -2018 in Philippines.
The 11-year-old, who studies in Class VI, was picked from 44 selected participants from across the country in the final round.
Satavisa is the daughter of well-known social activist Subhashree Das.
“There were six rounds – title, talent, ball gown, sports, jury, self-introduction while school uniform round was cancelled. Prior to the final round, the participants were groomed for two days. In talent round, Satavisa performed a Sambalpuri folk dance while the rest participants danced on Bollywood numbers. After returning to Bhubaneswar, I will groom her for Junior Model International 2018 to be held in August,” said Sbhashree.
Inspired by Padmalaya Nanda, who won Little Miss Universe Junior Title in 2017, she took part in the beauty pageant with support from her mother and dance guru Sonali Mohapatra.
Apart from honing her dancing skills and working on personality development, Satavisa focused on improving her general knowledge, specifically about Odisha.
She feels these pageants are not only about beauty but also talent, confidence, knowledge and personality. She aims to grab one of these titles — Little Miss Universe, Little Miss World, Junior Model International or Little Miss Queen.
