Bhubaneswar: Mystery shrouds the death of an Odia student in Gujarat’s Surat even as her family alleged that she was killed by one of her friends.
According to sources, while the student, Madhusmita Sahu had gone to a coffee shop in Surat with a friend, identified as Patel Madni Zahir Ahemad, on Monday, she fell unconscious. She was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Madhusmita’s family sources said she was pursuing BEd course in a college in Surat. Recently, she had taken admission in another college after Patel harassed her. They alleged that Patel had killed Madhusmita by poisoning her coffee.
“Madhusmita had told us that she was being harassed by one of her friends. On Monday, she had gone to her previous college to get some document and we suspect that the same friend must have killed her,” a local TV channel quoted Madhusmita’s brother as saying.
Surat police sources said a case has been registered and the cause of the death will be ascertained after getting the post mortem report.
