Cuttack: Director General, Prison and Directorate of Correction Service, Satyajit Mohanty will be awarded PhD in Law by the National Law University (NLU), Cuttack.
The NLU vice-chancellor will confer the degree on the IPS officer of 1988 batch during the university’s convocation on Saturday.
“Whereas the reports of the examiners of the PhD thesis and viva voce of Satyaiit Mohanty have been received and these being unanimous and definite, the vice-chancellor has approved the award of PhD degree in Law to the candidate concerned as per the UGC (Minimum Standards and procedure of Award of M.Phil/PhD Degree) Regulation, 2009,” a NLU notification said.
Mohanty had registered his name as a PhD candidate at NLU in July 2013. His thesis titled “Arrest discretion behaviour of police in India: A socio-legal study” was examined and evaluated by the NLU vice-chancellors in Odisha, West Bengal and Maharashtra.
