Bengaluru: Mungulal Jena from Odisha, who had sustained serious injuries during a drunken brawl at Kodigehall here, died on Thursday night.

According to media reports, the 45-year-old was undergoing treatment at NIMHANS after being attacked by an associate on January 20 and succumbed to his injures 11 days later.

Kodigehall police have arrested Gajendra, also from Odisha, in connection with the attack.

Sources said the victim and the accused had come to Bengaluru in search of job. They were soon engaged as construction labourers on Bellary Road.

On the fateful night, the two men started fighting over a trivial issue and in a fit of rage, Ganjendra hit Mungulal with a wooden plank, causing him grievous injuries, the sources added.
