Bhubaneswar: Eminent litterateur Kamala Satpathy has been conferred with Kendra Sahitya Translation Prize 2022 for her book “Suneli Badal’, which is a translation of Vendi Megham by noted Telugu writer Syed Saleem.
Satpathy received a copper plaque and Rs 50,000 cash prize.
Her famous literary works include Indradhanura Ashtama Ranga, Purnachheda Parara Kahani, Gotie Papara Kahani, Chiradhadi, Mahapatra Babunka Halchal, Samparkara Do Chhaki Re Manisa (a collection of short stories in e-book), Sesha Phaguna ( A collection of poetry), Mahu Machhi Ra Jibana (essays), Hai Mumbai, Adhakanthira Ghara, Salaam Mumbai, Hello Bhutan (Travelogue) and Phagunata Pherigalapare (novel).
Satpathy has been honoured with ‘Sudhanya Galpa Samman’, Kalinga Book Fair Award and Rajdhani Book Fair Samman, among others.
Notably, the Sahitya Akademi had instituted an annual prize for translation in 1989 for outstanding translations in the 24 languages recognised by it.
