Odia Lyricist Brundaban Jena of ‘Emiti Rati Eje Abhula Smruti’ Fame Passes Away

Cuttack: Lyricist Brundaban Jena breathed his last while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Wednesday. He was 81.

Sources said that he was admitted to the ICU of the medicine ward of the hospital after suffering a brain stroke. His last rites will be conducted after his daughter arrives from Bengaluru.

Inspired by his maternal grandfather, Jena began writing at the age of seven. ‘Pirati Tora Duru Juhara’, ‘Gori Dekhili Kali Dekhili’ and ‘Emiti Rati Eje Abhula Smruti’ are among the popular songs penned by him. He directed movies like ‘Sasti’ and ‘Baata Abata’ and wrote screenplay and dialogue for around 8 movies. He has also authored 15 books and was a playwright.
