Baripada: An Odia migrant worker, who had returned from Andhra Pradesh recently, allegedly committed suicide near a quarantine centre in Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
According to police, Surendra Behera (38) belonging to Raikama village in the district was found hanging from a tree near the centre under Baisinga police station. He had apparently used a lungi to hang himself.
The 38-year-old labourer had returned from Vijayawada along with wife six days ago. Both of them were placed under quarantine, IIC of the police station Lamidhar Swain said. Prima facie, it appeared to be a case of suicide, he added.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and the body sent for post-mortem, said Swain.
