Bhubaneswar: The body of Odia migrant worker Sadashiv Das was brought back from Qatar on Monday following the intervention of BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda.
Panda paid his last respect to the mortal remains of Das at Bhubaneswar airport before the body was taken to his village, Khadalasahi under Kendrapada’s Pattamundai Police limits,
Das had gone to Qatar about nine months back to work in a private firm where he sustained injuries in an accident on December 25. He later died.
As his family could not afford to bring the body back and sought Panda’s help. Panda wrote to the Indian Consulate in Qatar urging to expedite the process and hand over the body to Sadashiv’s family.
Sadashiv’s father Sarbeswar said, “After learning about my son’s death from his friend, we requested Baijayant Panda to help us in getting back the body of my son. We will be grateful to Panda Sir for his quick response and humanitarian gesture.”
