Bhubaneswar : ‘Manaska’, a psychological and philosophical film which takes a horror form, will be released across Odisha this month.
Director Manas Sahu said that the film with an entirely different storyline will be able to strike a cord with the audience. “It is a genuine effort of like-minded people to bring out an Odia film with good content. We are hopeful that people would visit theatres and watch it,” he said. The trailer had received good reviews.
Manaska’ means mind and how positive and negative thoughts can affect life is the premise of the film interspersed with numerous questions and riddles as the character, Tanis, carries along the burden of life on his shoulders.
While Lingaraj Nath is the scriptwriter, the film has been produced by Bhabani Prasad Majhi. Madhumita Barik will be seen in the lead role along with Ashwani Rai and veteran actor Vikas Chowdhury, who plays a Buddhist ascetic in the film.
Manas has graduated in drama from the University of Music and has a degree in film direction from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He had earlier assisted several directors in Tamil and Hindi film industries.
His film ‘Antarlin’ got a lot of attention for his experiment of telling the story in pictorial language for which he was also conferred with the State Film Award.
