Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of Bichitrananda Patra, 58, who worked as a plumber in New Delhi, reached here on Wednesday.
Patra, a native of Tanupur in Pattamundai block of Kendrapara district, collapsed on Monday morning while offering prayers and sustained head injuries. He called a friend and informed him that he was indisposed, but by the time his friend reached Bichitrananda had died.
Odia Mahamanch director Gobardhan Dhal coordinated with SPOC member Akshay Samal, appointed by Odisha-Mo Parivar in Delhi, who helped complete legal formalities. As the family is financially weak and not in a position to shift the body to Odisha, Mo Parivar, a BJD supported organization, provided financial aid to transfer Patra’s body.
Mo Parivar joint secretaries Rudra Samantray and Sameer Pradhan and health advisor Satyajit Dash received the mortal remains at the airport and shifted it to Puri, where the last rites were performed.
