Pune: Maharashtra police are investigating the death of an Odia woman who reportedly committed suicide in front of her two children in an apartment in Pune’s Bhagat Singh area on Saturday.
The deceased, Rashmita Das, originally hailed from Khuntuni in Cuttack district. She is survived by her husband, Rajendra Das, a 6-year-old daughter and a 10-month-old son.
Police said they have recovered a suicide note. The deceased has mentioned that her husband, who is a manager in a private company, had been torturing her mentally and physically for the past one year. As she could not bear the torture anymore, she decided to take the extreme step in front of her children after telling her daughter to take care of her younger brother.
Later, the deceased’s brother lodged a police complaint.
