Titlagarh: With COVID-19 wreaking havoc across the globe, Sonali Mohanty from Titlagarh in Balangir district has turned into a corona warrior in Oman.
Sonali, who did her matriculation from Saraswati Sishu Mandir in Titlagarh, works as a microbiologist in a diagnostic lab that is involved in swab tests of suspected patients of coronavirus.
“After completing my master’s degree in microbiology from Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar, I was in search of a job. In the meantime, my marriage was solemnised. After some days, I went to Oman where my husband works in a company. During my stay there, I applied for the post of a microbiologist in a diagnostic lab and got the job,” Sonali shared.
“At present, I conduct around 300-400 swab tests every day. I am very happy that I am able to contribute my service to the people. Though I have to work for about 10 hours every day, I have no regrets,” she pointed out.
Sonali’s family are also proud of her work. Her mother Kiranabala said, “I was initially reluctant about my daughter’s decision to test swab samples given the risk involved. But she stuck to her decision and I asked her to go ahead. Sonali has been extremely hard-working since her childhood. I am happy that she is doing her job sincerely. Even her in-laws are very happy with the job she is doing now.”
