Odisha: 210 Assistant Executive Engineers Join Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Dept

Bhubaneswar: A total of 210 Assistant Executive Engineers joined the Odisha Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department on Monday. This is the first batch of a new engineering cadre created in the PR & DW Department.

Addressing the orientation programme for the newly recruited engineers, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that rural housing and drinking water supply are the two flagship programmes of the Odisha government.

“The state government is committed to convert all kucha houses to pucca houses in a time-bound manner. Similarly, a target has also been set to provide piped water to all rural households by 2024. Therefore, the government is providing more manpower at gram panchayat level. The creation of a new engineering cadre shows our thrust on it,” he said.

He urged the engineers to follow and imbibe 5-T mantra. “People are at the core of our government. We need to serve them with dignity and professionalism,” he said.

Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Urban, Housing and Law Minister Pratap Jena also addressed the orientation programme.
