Puri: Police have detained three persons in the alleged firing and attack on Pipili Toll Plaza staff in Odisha’s Puri on Wednesday night.
According to sources, six persons, travelling to Puri from Bhubaneswar in a car, got into a quarrel with the toll plaza staff over toll fee. The situation took an ugly turn when one of the occupants got down from the vehicle and assaulted the plaza staff. The accused resorted to blank firing to intimidate the staff before speeding away.
One of the toll plaza employees sustained injuries in the attack.
On being informed, police reached the spot, seized a discharged bullet and initiated a probe into the incident. A team from Puri, Nimapada, Gop and Pipili police station nabbed the trio with the help of villagers while they were trying to flee leaving the vehicle behind at Dagara Sahi near Arishandha in Nimapra.
A manhunt has been launched to apprehend others involved in the offence.
