Bhubaneswar: As many as 32 researchers of Odisha’s Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University here have been named in the list of world’s top 2 per cent scientists for 2024 prepared by the prestigious Stanford University of USA.
The university had 22 of its scientists in Stanford’s 2023 list of top 2 per cent scientists of whom 20 have found place in the latest list.
Stanford’s top 2 per cent scientists’ list is an emerging ranking that focuses on scholars who are placed in the top bracket in their respective research fields.
The SOA list includes 14 researchers drawn from different disciplines of engineering who are working in the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology, while 11 have been picked from six of the 19 research centers set up by the university.
Five of the scientists are from the Center for Nano Sciences and Nano Technology (CNSNT) while two are from the Bio-fuels and Bio-processing Research Center.
One researcher each has been chosen from the Center for Industrial Biotechnolgy Research (CIBR), Multi-Disciplinary Research Cell (MDRC), Center for Internet of Things (CIOT) and Center of Excellence in Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences (CETMS).
Among the researchers named in the list are Prof. Pradipta Kumar Dash, Director of Multi-Disciplinary Research Cell, and Prof. (Dr) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, eminent neurosurgeon, both of whom are former Vice-Chancellors of the university.
The list includes Prof. Kulamani Parida, Director of CNSNT, Prof. Lala Behari Sukla, Director of Bio-fuels Bio-processing Research Center, Prof. Hrudaynath Thatoi, Director of Center for Industrial Biotechnolgy Research and Prof. Sanghamitra Nayak, Director of Center for Biotechnology.
The researchers from ITER who have found place in the list include Prof. R.N.P. Chaudhary, Prof. Manohar Mishra, Prof. Rashmi Acharya, Prof. S.R.Mishra, Prof. Rajashree Dash, Prof. Binod Kumar Sahu, Prof. Renu Sharma, Prof. Niharbala Devi, Dr. Manoj Kumar Nayak, Dr. Subhashree Choudhury, Dr. Akshay Kumar Verma, Dr. Seshadev Sahoo, Dr. Santosh Kumar Parida and Dr. Akshaya Kumar Patra.
The other scientists named in the list are Prof. Goutam Rath, Dr. Amit Kumar Nayak and Dr. Vineet Kumar Rai (all Pharmaceutics), Prof. Rabindra Nath Padhy (Central Research Lab), Dr. Susanginee Nayak, Dr. Sulagna Patnaik, Dr. Satyabrata Subudhi and Dr. Dipti Prava Sahoo (all from CNSNT), Prof. Gyana Ranjan Rout (Agricultural Sciences), Dr. Debabrata Pradhan (Bio-fuels and Bio-Processing Research Centre), Prof. Tapas Ranjan Routray (CETMS) and Dr. Rahul Priyadarshi (CIOT).
