Baripada: Police on Friday arrested four women for the alleged attack on a a police officer in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on December 18.
The arrested women are residents of Dahisahi and Gohira under Kaptipada police mimits. The two main accused, however, are absconding and are yet to be nabbed, sources said.
Following a tip-off about illegal sand mining at Dahisahi, a team from Kaptipada police station led by IIC Prakash Rath reached the area on December 18 morning, The police team came under attack when Rath directed his personnel to seize the sand dumped in the area. The group, including women, also damaged the police vehicle.
Rath sustained injuries on his neck and back and was rushed to Kaptipada sub-divisional hospital for treatment.
