Berhampur: Taratarini Temple atop Kumari hills on the banks of the Rushikulya river in Ganjam district seems to be next on the Odisha government’s religious centres development plan.
After his pre-dawn visits to Jagannath Temple in Puri and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Secretary to Chief Minister (transformation & initiatives; popularly known as 5T), V K Pandian toured this 17th century shrine in the early hours of Friday and reviewed the ongoing development work.
Accompanied by Collector Vijay Amrut Kulange, Pandian discussed infrastructure facilities and use of public utilities available there.
He also met the servitor, Bapuji Ranna, of the temple, which is one of the four Adi Shakti Peethas with huge tourism potential.
Ganjam district PD DRDA Siddharth Shankar Swain was also present during the discussion.
As has been the norm, it is being expected that the government will soon announce a package for transformation and development of Taratarini Temple along with Rushikulya river and its surroundings, said sources.
The 5T Secretary is later scheduled to visit all high schools and municipalities of the Hinjili block in Ganjam district.
