Nayagarh: Eight house surgeons of SCB Medical College and Hospital were injured in a road mishap in Nayagarh late on Friday.
The accident occured when the house surgeons were going to Balangir on COVID duty.
According to sources, 20 house surgeons on COVID duty were travelling on an OSRTC bus from Cuttack on Friday night.
The bus hit a tree on NH-57 near Durga Prasad in Nayagarh. The bus driver and eight house surgeons were injured in the accident.
On being informed, Tehsildar Akhaya Kumar Khemundu, Dr Rashmi Ranjan Bhadra, IIC Kiran Hembram and fire brigade reached the spot. The injured persons were rescued and sent to a nearby hospital for primary treatment.
The remaining doctors will be sent to Balangir in a special vehicle, said the sources.
