Bargarh: At least 83 prisoners have tested COVID positive at Padmapur Sub-jail in Odisha’s Bargarh district.
According to sources, the swab samples of 124 prisoners and eight jail employees were collected for testing. Of these, the reports of 83 prisoners came out positive.
Among all the affected prisoners, five were sent to a COVID care centre.
One prisoner was put on oxygen. However, his condition is stable now, said the sources.
Notably, many prisoners have tested COVID positive in different jails of Odisha. As many as 96 prisoners and jail staffers had tested COVID positive at Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahy and former Indian Forest Service officer Abhay Kant Pathak, who are lodged in Jharpada jail, have also tested positive for COVID-19.
