Balasore: The family of deceased Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra on Sunday accused his wife, Bidyabharati Panda, of having an affair.
“After the death of my brother, I had accompanied my father and uncle to his official residence in Paralakhemundi. There we found a notebook belonging to Bidyabharati. In some of the pages, she had written a name ‘Akshaya’ and then struck it off,” Soumya Ranjan’s brother told the media.
“I cannot say who is Akshaya. But I suspect that Bidyabharati might have been in a relationship with him. We had heard about her pre-marital affair with a person. As she had a strained relationship with my brother after the marriage, she might have continued her affair with this person. The details of her affair can be ascertained if an investigation is carried out,” he added.
Meanwhile, the ACF’s parents accused police of tardy investigation. “As our daughter-in-law was present in the house when our son sustained severe burn injuries, police should arrest her immediately to get the details,” they pointed out.
Earlier in the day, a five-member team of Paralakhemundi Town Police Station led by the IIC Bibekahand Swain arrived in Balangir town to investigate the bachelors’ party sponsored by Bidyabharati on April 11.
