Kendrapada: The Tourism Department has added another destination to the eco retreat map of Odisha. It has been decided to organise eco-retreat festival at Pentha in Kendrapada district.
This will be the second place in the district after Bhitarkanika where an eco-retreat will be organised.
Informing about the festival, district Tourism officials said, it will be a three-and-a-half-month event that will commence from November 15. Fifteen luxury tents will be pitched for tourists.
Cultural and food festivals as well as trekking in mangrove forest will be the added attractions, said Sub-collector Niranjan Behera.
Last year, a three month eco-retreat festival was organised at Nalitapatia village, close to Bhitarkanika National Park.
Online booking for accommodation will begin soon, informed district tourist officer Himalaya Tripathy and added that the camp is contiguous to the good looking mangrove and casuarina forest cover.
The festival is likely to generate income for the locals. A photo exhibition, seminar exhibition of films on Bhitarkanika and its rich flora and fauna will also be held during the fete.
Pentha beach is still unexplored as a tourist destination and a festival of this kind will add to the income of the locals, Rajnagar MLA Dhruba Sahoo said.
The state has been organising eco retreat festivals at Konark, Bhitarkanika, Hirakud, Satkosia and Daringbadi and has been attracting huge crowds to the scenic spots.
