Bhubaneswar: The teachers of aided colleges in the state have sought the intervention of Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal in implementation of Retirement Benefit Rule, 1981, Common Cadre & Promotion and 7th Pay Commission benefits.

A team of representatives of All Odisha Aided College (488 category) Teachers & Employees Association met the Governor and submitted a representation detailing their demands on Friday.

Manas Purohit, working president of the association said the teachers/lecturers of these colleges are deprived of the pension benefits despite the 1981 Pension rule mentioning that they are eligible for the benefit.

“The lecturers and employees serving for more than 25 years and receiving GIA as per ORSP Rule, 2008 have been neglected compared to SSB sponsored employees. There should not be any hesitation for the government to introduce 7th pay commission for us,” said Purohit.

“Besides, we do not have any retirement benefits like pension or gratuity. We have also been demanding our inclusion in Common Cadre and promotion,” he added.

The association members also demanded increase in the retirement age from 60 to 62 years.
