Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on Monday told the Odisha Assembly that the state has one doctor per 1943 people.
Replying to a question by BJD member Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, the minister said that as against the all India doctor-patient average ratio of 1:1161, Andhra Pradesh has a ratio of 1:520 while Telangana is at the bottom with 1:7556.
In terms of the number of registered doctors, Andhra Pradesh tops the state chart with 1,00,587. In Odisha, 7024 of 8719 registered doctors are on duty, the minister added.
