Bhubaneswar: Air Marshal Dilip Kumar Patnaik has been appointed as the new Eastern Air Commander in Shillong.
He is presently serving as Senior Air Staff Officer in Central Air Command.
The Odisha-born officer carried out the first-ever night Laser Guided Bomb strike on Tiger Hill on the night of June 27, 1999. He launched the live strike whose successful hit helped the ground forces capture Tiger Hill.
He is recipient of ‘Vayu Sena Medal’ for his courage and indomitable spirit.
