Bhubaneswar: Noted animal rights activist Sanjib Kumar Das succumbed to COVID-19 on Thursday here. He was 53.
According to sources, Das breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. His mortal remains were consigned to flames at Satyanagar Crematorium here. His mother had died of coronavirus recently.
He was a member secretary of People for Animals and had been providing food to stray animals in the city with the help of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
Das was awarded in the past for his selfless service. His batchmates of 1983 in Government Boys Highschool (Unit-9) have mourned his death.
