Balangir: The state government on Wednesday announced a special package of Rs 134 crore to check migration in Balangir and Nuapada districts.
Following a crucial meeting at DRDA conference hall here, Labour Minister Sushant Singh said, “Keeping in mind the possibilities of increase in number of migrant labourers in Balangir, Nuapada, Sonepur, Bargarh and Kalahandi districts, which were badly affected by drought this year, the special package has been introduced for 30 gram
panchayats of Balangir and Nuapada for creating employment opportunities for people in these districts.’
Other districts and gram panchayats will be covered under the package in a phased manner, he added.
The meeting was attended by Labour Secretary Anu Garg, Commissioner Sachin Ramchandra Jadav, district collectors concerned and other government officials.
