Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted conditional bail to Archana Nag in an alleged sextortion case registered Khandagiri police station.
She was granted bail in a case lodged at Nayapalli police station in April this year. She, however, will continue to remain jail as she was arrested in a similar case registered by the enforcement directorate (ED).
The alleged honeytrap racket kingpin has been in jail since her arrest by Khandagiri Police on October 6 last year on charges of human trafficking, having been booked under Section 370 of IPC among other offences. Her former associate, Shradhanjali Nayak, had alleged that Archana forced women into prostitution and she was a victim of the racket. An FIR was also filed at Nayapalli police station by film producer Akshay Parija, accusing her of demanding Rs 3 crore by threatening to leak his obscene videos.
The filmmaker filed the complaint with Nayapalli police after a woman accused him of casting couch.
Archana had moved the high court after the second additional sessions judge, Bhubaneswar, rejected her bail plea saying, “During investigation so far, the material collected by the IO, prima facie shows the involvement of the present petitioner in extortion of money.”
