Sambalpur: A gang of armed robbers allegedly executed a daring daylight heist at an office of Manappuram Gold Loan in Odisha’s Sambalpur and decamped with around 30 kg gold worth over Rs 20 crore on Friday.
According to sources, around 10 masked robbers arrived at the office of Manappuram Gold Loan at Budharaja Main Road in five motorcycles when it was opened this morning around 9.40 am. They then entered the office with firearms and sharp-edged weapons and tied up the employees using celo tapes before fleeing with gold jewelleries and cash from a locker.
The IG and Sambalpur SP have reached the crime spot. Police are examining CCTV footage in the area and interrogating the employees for any clue about the robbers. The exit and entry points to the town have also been sealed and nearby police outposts alerted about the robbery, sources added.
It is being suspected that the robbers, who interacted in Hind, took Ainthapali road towards Bargarh.
