Odisha Artisan In ‘India Book Of Records’ For Making Miniature Of Goddess Kandhuni Using Buttons

Berhampur: Known for creating small artefacts, Satya Maharana, 36, has added another feather to his cap by entering ‘India Book of Records’ for creating ‘a magnificent portrait of Goddess Kandhuni Devi of Sorada in Ganjam using colourful buttons.

Maharana already has 30 international and national records for creating small artefacts in wood, chalk, soap and sand.

“We appreciate the effort and patience shown by you. Your skills have been acknowledged as per the verification done by the Editorial Board of ‘India Book of Records’. Only the best has been selected and approved by us,” the organisation confirmed in a message to him.

The portrait of Goddess Kandhuni Devi measuring 18 X 15 inches consists of 1115 colourful buttons and flowers, Satya said. It took him four hours to complete it. “I am very happy that I could make a record in a totally different medium,” he said.
