Odisha Artist’s Paintings Part Of NDMC’s Painting Exhibition At Janpath Subway

Janpath Subway, one of the busy crossing junctions in New Delhi, has been turned into an art gallery with paintings of more than a dozen artists on display.

The exhibition was inaugurated by New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) Chairman Dharmendra and Secretary Dr Rashmi Singh. The NDMC organizes such exhibitions twice a year.

Curator Kishore Labar told the media that this time it was decided to put on exhibition the works of senior as well as relatively new artists and among them is Odisha-born Dr Suryasnata Mohanty.

She has exhibited her works twice earlier at India Habitat Centre and DlF Promenade in Vasant Kunj in Delhi and garnered much appreciation from art aficionados.

The passing commuters pause to have a closer look a Dr Mohanty’s paintings, which draw attention because of the vibrant colours that the artist has used to express her concepts.  Most of her paintings depict temples and some of them reflect the temple architecture of Odisha.

The Janpath exhibition, also showcases the works of some noted senior artists like Sailesh Sanghvi, Anil Tato and Renu Jain. The exhibition is on till January 18, providing a chance to people from all walks of life to appreciate art up close.
