Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned for an hour by Speaker Pradip Amat on Wednesday following uproar by the BJP members in the well of the House.
As soon as the House proceedings began at 10.30 am, the Speaker admitted the adjournment motion brought by the Congress for discussion on farmers’ problems and asked Congress member Naba Das to initiate discussion.
However, trouble started after the BJP members stormed into the well of the House protesting the arrest of BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra by the Padmapur police in connection with the Banabira firing case in the night on February 21.
The BJP members, while shouting slogans against the government, even tried to snatch the microphone from the Speaker’s table.
Unable to run the House proceedings, the Speaker adjourned the House for an hour till 11.30 am.
