Bhubaneswar: Logjam continued to prevail in the Odisha Assembly as Speaker Pradip Amat on Wednesday adjourned the House twice till 3 pm due to the uproar by the Opposition Congress and the BJP members.
As soon as the House session began at 10.30 am, the Congress members demanded a clarification from the Agriculture minister Pradip Maharathi on the Rs 100 crore scam in the sapling plantation in Mayurbhanj district. Supporting the Congress, the BJP members also sought a reply on the same issue and non-utilisation Central assistance for construction of National Highway.
When the Speaker turned down their demands and ordered resumption of Question Hour, the irate Opposition members rushed to the podium in the well of the House, urging him to initiate a discussion on these issues.
Unable to run the proceedings, the Speaker adjourned the House till 11.30 am.
Pandemonium again prevailed in the House during Zero Hour at 11.30 am as the Opposition members stuck to their demand and rushed to the well while urging the Speaker to direct the Agriculture minister to furnish a reply on the sapling plantation scam. Not able to run the business, the Speaker adjourned the House till 3 pm.
Earlier in the day, the Speaker accepted a motion of the Congress for discussion on the issue of the SC and SC communities.
