Bhubaneswar: The question hour session of the Odisha Assembly on Saturday witnessed uproarious scenes over the tribal development fund issue, forcing Speaker Pradip Amat to adjourn the House till 12 pm.
As soon as the session began at 11 am, the Speaker announced resumption of the question hour and asked the SC and ST Development minister Ramesh Majhi to reply to the question of the BJP member Rabi Naik on the Central allocation to the State Tribal Development Fund.
As the BJP member countered the reply of the minister for furnishing wrong information, the irate Congress members, led by the Opposition chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati rushed to the well of the House and protested against the reply of the minister. They urged the Speaker to ask the minister to give a clarification for furnishing wrong information in the House.
As the Speaker did not pay heed to their demand and directed the minister to go ahead with his reply, the Congress members shouted slogans against the minister and the state government. Unable to run the proceedings due to the uproar, the Speaker adjourned the house till 12 pm.
Talking to mediapesons later, Bahinipati said that the Congress will bring a privilege motion against the minister for furnishing wrong information in the House. He also said the state government had appointed the BJD leaders in the Tribal committee and ignoring the non-BJD parties.
BJP member Rabi Naik said that the minister gave wrong information, which was grossly unfortunate.
