Odisha Assembly Adjourned Sine Die A Month Ahead Of Schedule

Bhubaneswar: The winter session of the Odisha Assembly was adjourned sine die on Sunday, more than a month ahead of the schedule. The session was scheduled to end on December 31.

After the Rs 11700-crore supplementary budget was passed, Government Chief Whip Pramilla Mallik brought a motion stating that there is no more official business for the session. She was supported by Parliamentary Affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukha and BJD MLAs including Amar Prasad Satpathy.

While the Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati opposed the motion, the BJP members staged a walkout of the house in protest and staged dharna near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue.

Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro announced adjournment of the House sine die.

During the session which began on November 20, the House had discussion on two adjournment motions, while 1192 out of 1332 replies to the written questions were tabled .
