Bhubaneswar: Amid pandemonium, Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 4 pm on Monday as opposition BJP and Congress members created ruckus and paralysed proceedings over alleged matric examination question paper leak.
Soon after the House assembled for the day, lawmakers of both BJP and Congress were on their feet hitting out at the state government over alleged leak of question papers of the matric examiantions.
The opposition members rushed to the well of the House creating ruckus. They cornered the government over reports about matric examination question papers having gone viral on social media.
As the House plunged into turmoil, proceedings came to a grinding halt. Finding it an uphill task to conduct the business, Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha adjourned the House till 4 pm.
While School and Mass Ecuation Minister Samir Ranjan Dash refuted allegations about leak of question papers, senior BJP leader and opposition chief whip Mohan Majhi told reporters outside the House that the Minister was giving false information.
Accusing Dash of misleading people about question papers having gone viral, Majhi demanded resignation of the Minister for alleged mismanagement in conduct of the matric examinations.
Senior Congress legislator Tara Prasad Bahinipati, while speaking to reporters outside the House, alleged that questions were released in a planned way to benefit some sections. As a result, the future of talented and meritorious students is getting ruined, he claimed, demanding a thorough probe into the matter and strong action against those responsible.
