Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session To Be Held Before Sept 30

Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of Odisha Assembly will be held before September 30, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro informed on Sunday.

The last session was held on March 30 this year. Since the rules mandate that the next session should be held within six months, the House should be in session before September 30, he said.

Patro recently consulted Speaker of Rajasthan, where the session has started 3 days ago, and that of Karnataka to finds ways to hold the session amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They stressed maintaining social distancing and accordingly, we are trying to evaluate whether this can be achieved and the venue will be finalised soon. The date for the session will be fixed in consultation with the Chief Minister and Governor of Odisha,” he added.
