Odisha Assembly Paralysed Amid Pandemonium By BJD & Congress

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes on Monday as opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress members created a ruckus over several issues, paralysing proceedings in the House.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, BJD and Congress members were on their feet raising issues like law and order situation and crimes against women. Amid pandemonium, Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House till 12.15 pm.

Soon after the question hour began, the opposition MLAs trooped into the well of the House and staged protests. While the BJD raised the issue of the alleged deterioration in law and order situation, Congress claimed that the state witnessed alarming rise of crime against women.

As unruly scenes persisted despite repeated appeals by the Speaker to restore normalcy, the House was adjourned till 12.15 pm.

After the adjournment, the Congress members staged a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises.
