Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly on Saturday passed a resolution on Srimandir Parikrama Yojana (temple corridor plan) proposed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The resolution was unanimously passed by a voice vote, said Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.
Making a statement while placing the resolution in the House, the Chief Minister said that the biggest identity of the Odia race is Lord Jagannath, who has given the people of the state the opportunity for the development of his abode.
“All devotees who visit the Srimandir have the only desire that they will have the darshan of the Lord Jagannath in a serene atmosphere. Accordingly, the Srimandir Parikrama Yojana was conceptualized on three aspects—security of the Jagannath temple, security of the devotees visiting the temple and a spiritual environment for the devotees—during the recommendation of the heritage corridor proposal of the state government by Justice BP Das Commission,” the Chief Minister said.
Naveen stated that the Srimandir Parikrama Yojana was finalized after several rounds of meetings by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) led by the Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb with different stakeholders.
In this context, the CM conveyed his gratitude to Gajapati Maharaja, residents of Puri town, Padma Vivushan Raghunath Mohapatra and Dr Subash Pani for their wholehearted cooperation in the formulation of the Yojana.
Maintaining that it is the responsibility of the people of Odisha to preserve the Jagannath temple, the invaluable property by ensuring the proper implementation of the temple corridor plan, the Chief Minister presented the three following resolutions in the House:
—Work unitedly and dedicatedly for the early completion of the temple corridor plan
—To give the opportunity to all to contribute their efforts in the completion of the plan.
—Thank the residents of Puri town for their sacrifice for the corridor plan.
Expressing happiness over the passing of the resolution in the State Assembly, the Puri Gajapati Maharaja said he is grateful to the members of the State Assembly.
He said that this historic project undertaken by the state government under the leadership of the Chief Minister marks the beginning of a significant process for transforming Shree Jagannath Dham to its rightful place as one of the foremost religious, spiritual and cultural centers of the world. “May Shree Jagannatha Mahaprabhu bless this historical endeavour with complete success,” he added.
