Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik, who had bounced back after initial setback, was again trailing in Kantabanji Assembly constituency as counting of votes was in progress.
As per Election Commission of India (ECI) data, the BJD supremo was trailing behind his nearest BJP candidate Laxman Bag by a margin of 10,460 votes in Kantabanji after 21 of 28 rounds of counting in the constituency.
Naveen polled 56,765 votes at the end of 21st round of counting, while BJP’s Laxman Bag bagged 67,225 votes and established a good lead over the BJD chief.
Sitting Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja was pushed to the third place with 20,757 votes after 21 rounds of counting.
Naveen was leading over his nearest BJP candidate Sisir Kumar Mishra by 3950 votes in his home turf Hinhili in Ganjam district, after 12 rounds of counting.
