Bhubaneswar: Odisha vigilance on Friday apprehended Kundura block assistant engineer Bhanumati Tudu while taking Rs 5,000 bribe at the block office in Koraput district.
According to the Vigilance release, she had demanded the illegal gratification from a beneficiary for facilitating release of bill towards construction of a cattle-shed. The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from her.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at three places linked to Tudu to ascertain whether she has accumulated assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
A case has also been registered against them under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
