Bhadrak: In an exemplary display of honesty, an auto-rickshaw driver in Odisha’s Bhadrak returned valuables, including gold ornaments, worth around Rs 5 lakh forgotten by a woman passenger in his vehicle.
The auto driver, named Inayat Khan, has won accolades from different quarters for his humanity and big-heartedness.
According to sources, a woman boarded the auto on Thursday for Jamjhad but forgot to take her bag after getting out of the vehicle at her destination. Later, Inayat found the woman’s belongings and went to Jhamjhadi and Talanagar to trace the woman.
After he failed to find the woman, he handed over the bag containing valuable gold ornaments and articles worth nearly Rs 5 lakh at Bhadrak Police Station.
The woman, Subhasmita Lenka, learned about the development as the news went viral on social media. She then visited the police station and claimed her bag. She was impressed with Inayat’s honesty.
Bhadrak city DSP Anshuman Dwivedy said, “The woman had inadvertently left behind her bag with valuables in the auto. The driver, Inayat, showed his honesty by returning the valuables to the woman. This is the biggest example of honesty for others. All should follow Inayat’s honesty.”
