Bhubaneswar: Bari Block Chairman Ashok Kumar Gedi on Tuesday returned to his old party, the BJD. Gedi along with his supporters was welcomed by the party leadership at an event organised at Sankha Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.
On August 17, Gedi had quit BJD and officially joined the BJP in the presence of party president Manmohan Samal and local leaders of Bari,
However, today, speaking about his home-coming, Gedi said that he was misguided on development of Bari with a change in government in the state.
“Over the last 11 days, I realised that no such development is going to happen in my region under this dispensation. I am happy to rejoin my party, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD),” he said.
On the occasion, senior BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das alleged that the BJP is misutilising power to threaten and allure workers and leaders of the regional party.
Senior party leaders like Pramila Mallick, Pratap Jena and Bari MLA Biswaranjan Mallick echoed Das on this matter.
BJP leadership could not be contacted for their version on BJD’s allegations.
