Bhubaneswar: Subhrakant Panda took charge as president of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Saturday.
Managing Director of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), he earlier served as the senior vice-president of FICCI. He has been active in FICCI for two decades and was the first chairman of the FICCI Odisha State Council.
He is the first industrialist from Odisha to take up a leadership role in FICCI.
Speaking to the media, Panda said that FICCI’s tagline is the voice of India’s business and industry and accordingly, he will strive to take this sector forward as it contributes to the country’s growth. “My priority will be MSME and north-eastern states. Odisha will be front and centre of FICCI’s agenda next year and with my team, senior vice president Anish Shah and vice president Harvarshan Agarwal and the secretariat, we will plan the road head,” he added.
Panda graduated from the Questrom School of Business, Boston University with a dual concentration in finance and operations management and has been handling various responsibilities in IMFA, which is the country’s leading, fully integrated producer of ferroalloys with captive mining
