Bhubaneswar: With all schools in Odisha being closed as a precautionary measure against coronavirus, the state government has decided to provide three-month advance rice to the students under its mid-day meal (MDM) scheme till June.
The MDM rice will be given to students from Class 1 to Class VIII, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash told the media on Sunday.
While each student from Class I to V will be given 3 kg of rice, each student from Class VI to VIII will be provided with 4 kg of rice.
The headmasters of the respective schools will decide the retail centre for distribution of the MDM rice and provide tokens to the guardians to receive it, the minister added.
